Malacca

Maritime Museum

It was literary a HOT delight visiting Malacca again after a longgg time. If you are a sucker for heritage buildings then this is the place to be.  Its one of the few cities in Malaysia that still maintain its historical treasures.

Crocodile Park

First stop, Crocodile Park, yes I know, I went all the way to Malacca to see crocs. And it was a bad choice, the park was in a terrible shape! I paid RM10 to see rubbish strewn all over in the croc's den. Now, I know these ancient creatures aren't clean freaks but they deserve a rubbish-free environment.

Trishaw

If you have time (well, make time!!), hop on one of these and enjoy the ride!. You would love its funky decorations and if you are lucky enough, it might just come with a funky sound system as well. Yep, even trishaws have been modified. It might be a little pricey as it cost me RM20 to go from the A. Famosa Fort to Jonker Street but it was a pleasant ride as the "pak cik" was a wonderful guide. He even made a few pit stops for me to snap photos.

Jonker Street

This narrow road here is called Jalan Hang Jebat or better known as Jonker Street or Jonker Walk. There are a few restaurants, antique shops and lots of souvenir shops. It's a bit dull during the day but at night, this little street here comes alive with hawker stalls parked along the roadside.

Melaka River Cruise

Thinking about seeing Melaka during the day but don't want to flame up? No problemo, just take a relaxing 45 minute river cruise. Its only RM 10.00 for adults and RM 5.00 for children. What I particularly love most about this cruise was witnessing both historical and modern architecture. There were Malay "kampung" houses and many heritage buildings turned into coffee shops, cafes and hotels as well.

But be warned, along a few stretches, the aromatic fragrance from the river was so overpowering that it made every one's face wrinkle up ( hold your breath and get your cam's out! its the best time to snap candid shots!). All in all, it was simply a "stink-azing" cruise! (stinky but amazing view lahhh!)

Wah Aik Shoemaker

We were walking along Jalan Tokong (Temple Street) when we spotted this shoemaker. As you can see, its definitely not your regular kind of shoemaker. These guys specialise in bound feet shoes and as well as modern beaded sandals. Its just amazing to know that these shops still exist in this day and age where women's feet can go up to 9 times the size of that!
